We are living in a time of global change. While a lot of people are positive about these changes, a lot of others are now uncertain about the future. When there is no wind and the ground is still, everything is easy. Humans, on the other hand, begin to realize how fragile they are when the winds of change begin to push against them. Humanity is perched atop a perpetual cliff in the Age of War, looking down into the abyss of oblivion, where any mistake could send them extinct. How much turmoil can humanity endure before it reaches its limit? Are these global rearrangements merely tremors beneath humanity’s feet, or are they the rumblings of the final quake?
Compromise is
the key to unity's strength. The crown has been worn by thousands of kings and
queens, each one unique. Power moves from one side to the other in an endless
cycle, like a clock's pendulum. It balances two opposing forces, with each side
relying on the other to keep things in order. Despite the fact that neither
side is entirely correct or wrong, neither can back down. The clock ceases to
function if the pendulum stops swinging. Peaceful transfer of power is a
foundation of freedom.
If the
leaders of humanity are not the ones you choose, it is simple to lay the blame
for difficulties on their shoulders. A leader becomes an adversary in the minds
of their opponents; their mistakes become premeditated attacks; human flaws
become irreparable defects; and missteps become evil conspiracies. Many refuse
to see any good in those who disagree with them simply because their beliefs
are different.
Criticism is
the restraint that holds a leader from becoming a dictator. However, the lowest and highest leaders are
made of the same materials. The only thing that separates a king's and a
commoner's minds is what they choose to put in them. To claim that any leader
is entirely evil – or entirely good – is to claim that they are not human.
Find peace in
the eternal question: “Cui bono?” Who
benefits from this? What do leaders stand to gain from seeing their followers
destroyed? Why would a king or queen want to destroy the very thing that makes
them wear the crown? Every king's people outnumber him. Who then truly leads a
country?
When you are
questioning the actions of your leaders, consider how you would deal with the
same problems if you were responsible for them. Remember that what is seen
publicly is only a fraction of what truly happens behind the curtain – a facade
of wealth and power that hides the grave severity of the decisions being made
behind it.
Your leaders
have no motivation to cause you harm, and in the interests of your safety, must
often make decisions that you cannot understand and may seem suspicious when
viewed out of context. If you believe
your decisions would serve the advancement of humanity better than the
decisions of your current leaders, you are welcome to invest the time and
effort required to replace them, as they did to the leaders before them.
Time is an effective
revealer. This planet has endured hardships for millennia and catastrophes that
were more devastating than any war ever recorded. Humanity has faced its worst
leaders, its worst regimes, its worst obstacles, and survived to become
stronger.
All must
unite for the benefit of humanity, despite their differences of opinion. Don't
worry about the species that are the most resilient on the planet's future.
Though the portraits inside the palaces may change, and the names on the maps
may be altered, humanity’s clock will continue uninterrupted. The pyramid's shade is a safe haven when the
winds of change threaten to sweep you off your feet. We are always watching out
